Weightless Scale

Listen to the description

The triptych consists of two rotating works and a fixed one.

The use of light achieves the transformation of the parallel rotation of the work (and not movement) into a vertical movement of the shadow, which “converses” with the stationary shadow of the fixed work.

The right rotating part in combination with the fixed one constitutes the world of ideas, while the left rotating one with the fixed one constitutes the world of senses, matter and carnal desires.

The world of ideas.
In this world, all human figures are not people, but ideas, which are born, mature, wander, are destroyed… During the rotation, one can see the gestation of an idea, the development of the pregnancy, the birth of the idea and the parallel destruction of another that is watching this birth. The fetus detaches from the mother, matures and is incorporated into the body of a man, who stands opposite a woman. As ideas circulate, there are desires… A hand appears and is directed towards the woman’s breast… but does not touch it and is raised to her face.

The world of the senses, matter and carnal desires.
In this world, all human senses are distinguished during the rotation. The viewer is invited to seek them out. The work also refers to matter as well as to the perishability of matter, which at some point is murdered, destroyed and changes state. Reference is also made to carnal desires at various points during the rotation of the sculpture…
