The Xanthian

The history of the city is not only found in the buildings or in the books, but in the Xanthian citizen himself, who carries the past and shapes the future. All citizens are important for the course of a city. And they all have their stories, which are most of the time unknown to many.

The Xanthian who was chosen is a kiosk owner who had a great story that most people do not know. This man escaped certain death three times. In fact, one of these times was from the Dachau concentration camp.

The artist is particularly attached to this work for two reasons. The first reason is that this man was his wife’s grandfather and he have met him in person, and the second reason is that the artist’s grandmother owned the Sarantaporos kiosk, where the artist worked when he was young.
