After the silence of the earthquake the first blow of the hammer was heard: European Architects and Epirus craftsmen, with stone, wood and centuries of knowledge, raised a new city. Folk houses, mansions, flower-filled courtyards and narrow alleys began to give shape to the city again.
The two pieces of wood that have been used for the construction of the main body of the sculpture are waste that resulted from the reconstruction of the privately owned neoclassical building of the Research Center “Athina”, which was built in the 19th century.
On the left side of the shadow we see a mason building a stone wall and on the right a decorative element that ends in the blossom of a flower, the Galanthus which is the first to emerge from the snow when spring approaches and generally symbolizes the renaissance.
