Loss

Loss

Listen to the description

This artwork is dedicated to Michalis.

The fifth of the six works in the “Psyche” unit. A man above a grave mourns. These are the first days of loss. I express this with the sun. By placing the sun in the shadow of the work in such a position and with this color, one can interpret it as sunset or sunrise.

At such times, very early or late in the afternoon, we are in the cemetery usually in the first days when we have not yet accepted the fact. There is denial as we are confused. Hence the strange shape above the man experiencing the loss.

A confusion. Thoughts, regrets, emotions, situations and people involved. Some of the people lean over him. They help him, they lean into the pain of the other. Some others turn their backs on him.

Loss

… and suddenly they are gone…

… Suddenly, even if we expected it…

… One moment they were with you…

… talking to you…

… caressing you…

… squeezing your hands…

… singing to you…

… listening to you…

… scolding you…

… blaming you…

… claiming you…

… loving you…

… suddenly, nothing…

… you asked but they didn’t nod…

… Ice cold all over…

… they are here somewhere…

… they will be back…

… you can feel they sees you…

… you feel they are still there.
